A researcher team from Rutgers ( The State University of New Jersey ) have just discovered a powerful way to cool down all components inside the integrated circuit chip . They claimed “with the help of Graphene we can cool down all components inside the chip ”
Graphene is an allotrope of carbon in the form of a two-dimensional hexagonal molecular structure .. It is the basic structural element of other allotropes, including graphite, charcoal,and other carbon forms . Though Graphene is allotrope of carbon ,it conduct better electricity then copper wire .
By Moore’s law transistors and other components inside chip double in every 1.5 years . By increasing components inside chip will also increase heat inside the chip ,which is one of the major challenge of todays smart phones and computers .
How graphene cool down electronics chips
The graphene is placed on devices made of boron nitride, which is extremely flat and as smooth as silk . This material is used to make a connection inside the chip base . In traditional method Silicon dioxide has been used to make base for chips but it have very low performance compared to the graphine . Silicon di-oxide is low on performance because it scatters electrons that can carry heat away.
