Missile and war-heads represents power of a country in this present so called modern world . If one country do not have missiles or nuclear weapons then that country declares either weak or poor . All these power things in this modern world is misuse of art,science and engineering . In every missile control room there are actually highly trained & highly expert technicians , engineers,researchers , and scientists . In this article we will discuss what are missiles and warheads , how they are controlled and how embedded system are used to control and point missile target .
Missiles and Nuclear Warheads
Missile in modern language is weapon that carries highly explosive materials and are self propelled . Missile have four main parts missile guidance, flight system, engine, and warhead . They are directed and controlled by either remote control station or conventional target system ( in conventional target system they are launched at making some perticular degree of angle ) .They are very effective weapons then guns and conventional bombs .
- missile guidance refers to method of targeting . This factor determines accuracy of missile , its capacity . Missile guidence may be either remote controlled using modern station to control or it may be fixed targeting system called command to line of sight where there is predetermination of launching point and target point
- flight system : after determining missile guidance missile need a calculation of total force ,angle , velocity needed to reach the target
- engine : missile do not have any petrol or diesel engine . Their engines are solid fuel type engine or some ballistic type engine use liquid fuel (ballistic missiles are trageted from to the ground target at very long distance )
- Warheads are the top of the missile these carries explosives .
How missiles are Launched and controlled ?
Every missile yet discovered are launched with the principle of newtons third law of motion “in every action there is always opposite reaction “. And this action is done by using very high explosive material which gives enough thrust to lift the rocket away “. The action may be done on ground launching station , sea navy or they can use special plane to do this action . in every system they are controlled and target the object with a calculated amount of speed , direction , and time .
What are the application of embedded system to control the missile
Well there are many application of embedded system in the missile control system . Each and every control part use electronics components , even warhead of missile use embedded system to communicate with launched station . Without embedded system and real time operating system (RTOS) nothing can be made real in this modern world .
One of the many application in missile is radar communication : To find a exact target radar or radio is used to communicate with the Warhead . After missile reach the target all components embedded inside the warhead destroyed .Most of the controller used are ARM based microcontroller . Yes ARM can be used in this huge application .
Other applications are targeting system . All calculation need to detect target are done by using microcontroller . After detecting target the target is locked to the processor using image processing chip and then the Warhead is directed towards the locked image . To process image a lot of embedded circuits are used . They are mostly manufactured by samsung,quallcomme,Intel or ARM licensed company . And some are developed and manufactured their internal research and development team .
some sensors are also used to detect environment condition and these sensor continuously sense the environment send data to the main station , and with the help of these sensors neccessary command is given from the major commander .
